Ormsby of Scarisbrick was started on 1st September 1961 by the present Directors
John and Philomena Ormsby. There was no showroom, no office staff, only 2 hard working people with 2 small children. The 1st mail shot was despatched in June 1962 followed by a second for Christmas 1962 and a third in time for Easter 1963. A cottage industry for the making of Vestments began.
The 1st general catalogue, a 32 page edition was published in October 1963 and 2 members of staff were engaged. A showroom was erected on the garden and the business began to grow.
In 1966 a woodworking workshop was rented in Ormskirk and in 1970 the present premises on Southport Road, Scarisbrick were purchased, renovated and extended.
The business became a Limited Company in 1985 and is now run by the youngest son Bruno. The eldest son Simon is in charge of the large contracts involving marble and stone and the daughter Fiona has now taken charge of the Vestment department and of Finance.
All woodwork is made on the premises together with the design and making of vestments and linen goods.
The business is now all embracing and the experience of the company as a whole is second to none.
